Delivering pizzas in a janky car that shoots bullets, pretty sweet. The bosses were really creative and it hooked me! I was able to kill the crab the but the rainy alligator stumped me and I had to give up. The graphics were cool and the music was slappin.
I genuinely loved almost everything about this game! I loved the hint on the failure screen and the way that that was implemented. I loved the audio and the select success screen. I loved the cute art, and the fact that it was only about a hundred pixels tall on my screen gave it a janky charm. I loved the boss design, especially the twist in the second fight. I loved the ending. I do think the enemies' health bars were a little too long, but, overall, fantastic work!
Great game! The crab boss was definitely my favorite. (Also, I'm not sure if I was supposed to be able to gain infinite health by just presssing Y on the my controller lol)
Love SHMUPs like this and especially love to see a Game Maker title. The design of the bosses is great and super unique. I like the crab boss.
One trick with SHMUPs is that the hitbox tends to be both (1) much smaller than the sprite, and (2) clear to the player where the bounds are. I had some difficulty dodging bullets because of the second point.
Writing is great, full points for humor. Great game!
This was great. Totally didn't cheat on the last two, nope. Loved all the references like the startup screen, akira slide etc. Music rocked and overall fun vibe.
I loved this, just a good ole fun time. Thanks for adding in a cheat for those of us who aren't as good xD Verticrab was a hoot. I'm glad that she got to see her chillens in Crabhalla. xD Also, that Akira slide... WOOT!
Dude I killed someone's babies... worth for the dope Akira slide.
Whole thing feels retro af, the music is outstanding, mood and gameplay feel great. You got a really good jam experience on your hands.
The only thing I'd critique is that the fireballs the player is shooting are too small and very mixel. It throws off the pixelart feel a bit. So does the Akira slide but it's not as noticable in the slide.
@arya-s The player bullets are actually the same scale as the rest (8x8 on a total 256x192 res), it's actually the enemy bullets that are scaled up. But I'll give you that the Akira slide scaling is weird, I would have rather had individual sprites to swap between but time was of the essence. Anyway thanks for the kind words!!
I really like the arcade aestethic here, it gives the game a rather nice mood. The crab boss's second phase attack might be a bit too fast (or maybe i'm just bad). The space the car is in feels a bit small, i kind of had trouble pin-pointing the car hitbox too, i feel like the game could of used more space in the level. But overall its a fairly fun game with a nice arcade atmosphere and a catchy soundtrack.
I found the bosses mechanics very clever, so the game wasn't just a sequence of "just hit this enemy a lot". Unfortunately I'm very bad at it so I had to use the cheat button to see the ending. (How bad am I? Well, I've managed to get a game over *after* learning about the cheat button 😅) Loved that ending and it's music, though.
Dude sick! I tried completing without a cheats, but I had to on the last guy cuz theres only a hour left rating and I could try all day! I really like the wholesomeness to parts of the story, while other parts are actually kinda brutal. Rhynocyclops is dead for sure, those teeny crabs, and verticrab if crabhalla is anything like valhalla. but at least they are reunited

Had a little bit of trouble finding the right key to get out of the start screen.

Regardless, I love this game!
