_Fit_ is an arcade game where you try to fit through the gaps in a series of incoming rings. You can always get through with a single pin (if you line it up right), but you earn more points if you get several through at once—and every 100 points you can earn back a life.
As you can hopefully tell from what it looks like, I was going for a TRON Legacy vibe—turns out that’s hard to do! My laptop seems to handle it okay, but if you have performance issues please let me know and I can look into making a potato-ier version. Similarly, it’s meant to have gamepad support but my gamepad is busted so I have no idea whether that’s working either. Holler if that needs fixing and I’ll try to dig up a less busted one.
Controls
- move: keyboard left/right or A/D, gamepad left stick
- switch pins: keyboard up/down or W/S, gamepad right stick
- pause: Escape, P, or a gamepad middle button
Tools used
- Unreal Engine (making the game)
- Cinema 4D (modeling, layout / previz, vector art for the instructions)
- Houdini (modeling and UVing the tunnel)
- Substance Designer (tunnel textures, distance-field conversion for UI textures)
- my phone and iOS’s Voice Memos (recording the sounds), Audacity (editing the sounds)
- a small bar chime and a box of tomato soup (making the sounds)
Thanks for reading. Here’s a video!
