Limited Grades

For me it's not totally clear what I'm doing wrong. I keep dying after some time. Music is great and art is suitable but there could be some indicators what to do(unless there are, but I'm not seeing them). Nontheless a nice game with some cool animations and a lot going on.

@brokenbridge Sorry to hear that, I had a tough time coming up with ways to convey the objective. When you get to the part with the music and the boss, you are supposed kill the boss by going over to it and hitting left mouse button to attack. Happy you enjoyed your time otherwise!

@triangle-point I had the same thing, and when I moved over to attack it ... I died after a few seconds

This has a ton of character—the pixel art’s great and I enjoyed the intro voiceover. The first time I played it I got little minion-grade things to fight (and then died soon afterwards), but the second time I played after refreshing the page they didn’t show up. Some kind of bug?

Very creative. Art and music are a good fit. I Kept dying at the Rocketeer meets flappy bird part. Congrats on your entry!

The art reminds me of McPixel a little bit, the music was great but I couldn't hear the voice when it started. I have died several times early as above comments but when I find out what to do it was fun to play !

@mahalis That attack is RNG based so you must have gotten lucky that round with them not spawning. I’m so happy you liked my game!

Very nice game! I loved the graphics and voice acting - everything was ridiculously over the top, which is my favorite brand of humor :) It was also pretty fun to fly around with the jetpack. The boss felt a bit too static, however - I tried it three times, and every time it launched just one or two attacks (pencils, using the fist, summoning a minion), and then just stood there doing nothing while I slowly killed it. Other than that, good entry!

I won just by left-click spamming the boss however I really liked the tone, i burst out laughing when the loud music kicked in while the voiceover and the whole screen started doing stuff. Good job 😀

Nice take with a voice over tutorial. I got stuck "outside" the room on my first go and the second I didn't really know what to do. Just wacking at the grades which gave me a F. Even if I didnt know what to do it was a well polished game! Great work!

I found a way to glitch past the boss, letting me hit it without getting hit, so got an A+ 😉

The music during the boss was a bit too loud for my tastes, but otherwise fun game!

The game is really fun, as the voice acting is. I understand what to do at the second try. Maybe a little to easy to die, having multiple life would have been good I think. Still a very funny game.

Man that must've been the most entertaining tutorial I've ever played through. I feel stupid for not seeing the sign, must say. Love the music and art style - felt like I was playing a quality Newgrounds game. The boss seemed to break a few times, but when he sent pens and minions flying, it was a really entertaining challenge. I also like how you've embedded the grades into everything, from boss, to win/lose-screen, to the Player's health! Great job on this

@gettingrekt There is a heath bar at the top of the screen that is the grade boss health, if you attack the grades enough (left mouse button), the bar should go down and he'll die. None the less, I'm so happy you had fun playing! Thank you so much!

sorry but I don't understand the game. I think there is a bug, i don't know why the boss never attack me !!

The whole intro sequence is equally awesome as it is hilarious! It's a shame that I kept experiencing a bug that made the boss throw out only a single attack at the start followed by a cps tester to make the healthbar go down. Still I greatly enjoyed every part of the game I got so see :)

I love the audio and I feel like there is some potential, but I couldn't figure out how to really make progress. The tutorial was solid for moving, but maybe a little nudge into what I'm trying to do would have helped me. Maybe I just deserved my F :D

This was really silly and fun - like some other folks I got immediately wrecked and not sure how I died, even when I figured out I had to bash the report card. I like the boss-rush attitude though

I like how the report card face looks like that soyjack from adventure time. Wonderful sfx, it really added to the game's silly atmosphere. I'm also a big fan of being able to kill the fella while the narrator is monologuing

Really humorous game I really liked the voiceover at the start, shame that you can just butterfly click the boss in 5 seconds other wise this looks like a really silly game haha!

also you are able to attack the boss as soon as it spawns so you can kill it before it even attacks once r.i.p.

I loved the unexpected if somewhat jarring aspects of the game, like narration, music and explosions! I didn't understand that I was supposed to attack the grade paper until my second try. But there didn't seem to be any obstacles for me, maybe I was unlucky. Good job!

Good and funny game idea! I like the voiceover at the start, and it was funny to be yelled at for hitting the acid immediately despite the sign. The music is cool too. (and is that Man on the wall at the start?)

I did encounter a couple bugs (starting the fight before the voiceover ended let me kill the boss without them attacking, and restarting after an attempt doesn't seem to work). But overall the game is pretty fun. I'll admit I don't completely understand the relation to the theme? but I enjoyed myself regardless.

The "boing" sound of the jump was quite fun and I love the decision to provide the controls as a voice over. I might try that myself in the future. When the rockin' music started it kind of drowned out the voice over for me, so I'm not sure what was said there but I figured out I hit the grade sheet. And I took that sucker DOWN! A+.

Struggled to know what to do, the spoken tutorial was good until I couldnt really understand anymore because the music got too loud. Otherwise a very cool idea and game!

the spoken tutorial was so funny and it was such a genius idea of conducting a quick tutorial! I'm gonna steal that the next time we do a jam hehe. But I also ran into the same issue as some others in that it was a little unclear after the game started what I'm supposed to do, I just randomly got F's here and there. Maybe the tutorial could go a bit longer, it adds to the fun anyways!

The intro is really cool and funny. I like the voiceover and the snarky comments from the narrator! The gameplay is a little confusing because I just kept hitting the boss and won, it seemed to end a little too quickly. There should be some visual feedback and sound effects for when you hit the boss. Overall fun game!

I can feel the energy in the voice instruction and music, it's adorable! lol.
It's fun and the illustrations are cute!

The voiceover was cool, however it was possible to spam the boss when he appeared and kill it in less then 10 secondes. I had the impression that explanations lacked a bit when starting the game.

I liked the pixel art, the jetpack and the vocal instructions.
I didn't understand the game the two times that I tried unassisted. Then I read the comments and understood there was a boss. I was seeing the health bar (and I was wondering whether it was my health or some kind of large elevator light), the white sheet with the face and the grades, but nothing moved. On one of the later runs I saw a monster with staples, but not on the first two runs. Same for the fist. I didn't understand it was a fist until run 3. And it was stomping me on one of the runs, but on the one where I got A+ it did nothing. Also, the Play again button didn't work on the web version I played.
Congrats on finishing this! :) I can't say I liked it overall because I left me confused, but I'd be happy to see other games with your art. Cheers!
