Play as the captain of a small pirate space ship. Your goal? Exploit a small region of unpatrolled space for 10 days and retire in luxury.
Your tools in this arsenal are many: your wits, your speed, your turrets, and, most importantly, your exotic matter hyperdrive jamming technology.
This jamming technology *limits* the *space* around it, creating a region to pillage cargo ships. Break open one of their cargo hulls, scoop up the salvaged goods, and return to your hideout to get ready for the next day.
TIPS that didn't make it into the intro:
* Focus on one cargo section at a time. You won't get all of them, so just break what you can and get the loot!
* More expensive cargo is sent in caravans. The more ships, the better the loot!
* Better loot is shinier! Make the most of your limited space by only grabbing the brightest cargo!
* Your turrets only fire in their cones. Shooting straight ahead fires all three, but shooting far to the left or right might shoot only one!
* Match your velocity with the cargo ship(s) before jamming or shooting! They accelerate very slowly, and you can get a lot of good shots off before your shields run out!
All controls are explained in the game, but here is a quick rundown:
* [W]/[S] - Forward/Reverse thrust
* [A]/[D] - Rotate left/right
* [Q]/[E] - Strafe left/right
* [Shift] - Hold down to disable the speed limit and turn on sideways braking; great for going somewhere really fast.
* [G] - Deploy a jamming module
* [Space] - Hyperdrive jump
* [Left click] - Fire turrets. 1-3 may fire at a time, depending on which way you're aiming.
Post-jam: The web build has a few tweaks related to the fixed resolution (including reducing the range on the cargo ships), and an easier way to restart. There's some stuttering in the web audio that's unfortunately outside of my control!
LudumDare54.zip is the strictly Jam-only build, and includes some extraneous files.
SpacePiracy2444.zip has the web resolution fixes and the restart feature.
