Made for a 72-hour Jam format

*In reality, I had about 14-15 hours of actual development time, the rest of the time I spent with my daughter and at work, but during that time, I was also brainstorming certain aspects, so you could say I was still developing it.*

Team: Solo

Used:
- Game engine: Defold
- Extension: defold-orthographic

I did it!

Well, I couldn’t have even imagined participating in this, but the idea took hold of me. I don’t have much time to dedicate to it, maybe just 4 hours a day at most. But that didn’t stop me. I had to discard a lot, or rather optimize the idea, focusing on the most essential aspects. And I want to say that yes, I did it. In a minimal version, but I expressed the story I wanted to tell. That’s great.

No music 😞

As usual, I don’t have any sound effects or music. But adding them wasn’t at the bottom of my priority list. I even found some wonderful tracks that capture the mood with which this idea has been living in my head. However, I still need to figure out how to work with sounds in Defold.

Ideas

I also put aside a couple of mechanics that would add some variety to the gameplay. One idea was to make the tunnels collapse as the player progresses and new ones appear.

I hope that what I have done will leave a tiny trace in your heart.

(WIP) Extended version

Currently, I am working on an expanded version of this small game. First and foremost, I will add music and sounds, an introductory animation, and I will try to improve the level itself both visually and in terms of gameplay.

Updates

- I changed the HTML overlay of Defold: I hid unnecessary elements and chose a dark theme instead of a light one to avoid distracting attention from the game itself.
- Changed a bit instruction for WARP to get an idea what need to drag
- I increased the character's trigger box for activating the warp so that it's not necessary to aim precisely at the character. It's more convenient for mobile gameplay.
- I removed the strange white square in the corner of the level.
- I slightly changed the trajectory of the bug's flight. It's still strange, but it's better than before.
