The Game
Life of a Mayor is an isometric city building game inspired by Anno 1404.
How to Play
There is a short tutorial in game to help the player get started. The idea is to develop your city, whilst balancing the population's food needs. You first have to build the town hall. Then, build roads. Other buildings, when the required resources are available, can then be placed next to the roads.
What Went Well
This time round, I actually quite like the graphics I was able to make. I think the houses and farm tiles look really good.
What Didn't Go Well
The isometric tilemap was more difficult than anticipated to get working. I had issues with certain buildings, especially if they were larger than a 1x1 tile, and having them render in the correct order. Sometimes, tiles would render in front of it's neighbour, even though it should be behind.
Future
If I were to continue developing the game, I would probably want to make it 3D. This would solve a lot of the workarounds I put in place to get the isometric tilemap working.
