Game Overview

Experience chess in a fresh, tactical way:
- Before each match, deploy your formation based on the enemy’s setup.
- Left-click to “grab” the Standard-Bearer—your squad leader. After you drop them, your allies will follow and unleash a synchronized volley.
- Enemies also volley: they take turns striking every square they could legally move to under their rules.
- After each victory, pick a new piece from the shop—careful! You’ll also grant a piece to the enemy.
- Use supplies and post-battle loot to grow your army.
- Each completed run earns a new banner. Every banner carries a curse that steadily empowers your foes… How long can you survive? 🏳️‍🌫️

Controls 🎮

- Mouse-only.
- Left-click: pick up/drop the Standard-Bearer to command all units on the field.
- Right-click an ally: move using that unit’s movement pattern—at the cost of skipping its attack this turn.
- Stay alive! 💥

On Regrets 🙇

I made a classic mistake—my design was too ambitious for the time frame. We had to trim features one by one to ship on time.

Originally planned systems (Note: not completed within the JAM time limit—please don’t include these in scoring!):
- Equipment system for pieces (I designed and drew 20+ items). Earn equipment from three-choice picks; unequip during downtime.
- Around 20 banners (about 10 drawn). Each banner carries a unique “curse.”
- A cute shopkeeper in the three-choice shop (haha <3).
- A recycle slot on the three-choice screen for scrapping pieces.

But don’t worry—regardless of results or ratings, I’ll keep building this project. This is just the beginning of its journey. Stay tuned! 🚀

Music 🎵

I’m honored to have my friend Therah compose for the game. If you like his music, you can find him on Fiverr.

Note on fairness: When uploading, I noticed the audio rules. To stay honest, I unchecked the audio award category, since the tracks were commissioned and completed a few days earlier as a paid piece from him.

Version Update 🛠️

- v0.9: Thanks to @umc049 for the reminder. We have now fixed the issue where some Chinese localization text couldn't wrap properly.
- v0.8: In version v0.7, we fixed the localized text, but somehow the left UI popped out awkwardly, haha. We've already fixed it.
- v0.7: We have completely fixed the localization issue. Thanks to @akuta-zehy for the reminder. In version v0.6, we missed an important file.
- v0.6: We discovered that due to the lack of Chinese font libraries in the web version, switching to Chinese causes garbled text. We have uploaded a version attempting to fix this issue.
- v0.5: Fixed a bug where a unit couldn’t attack after moving via an allied unit’s movement action.
- v0.4: Fixed a bug where piece movement behaved incorrectly.
A funny situation occurred: during the last translation fix, our initial identifiers were tied to a text file that also powered localization. When we edited that text for translation, it inadvertently changed those identifiers, scrambling banner states. This has now been fixed.
- v0.3: Fixed translation issues.
- *Note: QIZI_Flag_Collector.zip is an older build file.*
