You are going to want to test Py2exe with PyOpenGL before the programming starts. I have made it work, but it took some messing with to make it happen.

Specifically, the directions that you link to tell you to copy your OpenGL package into your distribution directory, this didn't quite work for me. I had to unzip the distribution bundle (distribution.zip?), and put it's contents into a folder of the same name (with the zip extension), and copy opengl into that folder. You will save yourself a lot of last minute headaches if you get your build environment working before the weekend.

I think I'll just stick with PyGame in the end. I know it works, and I can probably come up with something workable with it.

I'm having the same problem. I have one idea that I dont like, but its the only one I can think of. Maybe something will come to me when I start coding the basics.

Ahem... ;)

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "game.py", line 13, in ?
sounds[name] = pygame.mixer.Sound(os.path.join('data', file))
pygame.error: mixer system not initialized

Hrm. Try again? My first upload had a bug like that, IIRC.

I get same mixer not initialized error.

And don't forget to vote for the Uberpelly... I'm trying to do that now and it's HARD. I've got a list of TWELVE I'm trying to pick between.

Yeah, the voting for Uberpelly is really hard! A shame on all you people writing good games, have you no consideration for all the poor voters? ;)
