I've found my focus :)

I thought gothic. I thought star wars. I thought magic. I thought epic RPG. Then I thought that's a lot of work and I'm a lazy ass.

So I sat down and tried to reduce this theme to the simplest concept I could come up with and still be a playable game. I also wanted to give realism a good kick in the nuts because I like abstraction. I wanted to build something with as few artistic assets as possible to save time and focus on gameplay and content.

What comes to mind when you think of light and darkness? An epic struggle between two diametrically opposed forces with neither in full control of the battle. This is my basis.

I'm working on designing something similar to the game of life. Two forces, light and darkness, battle in a simple strength of numbers. Without input they grow, expand, and push each other around. Player control will be given power to give more focus to expand their domain, giving them tactical control over where things are fought.

I'll post up screen shots as soon as I uh... remember how to draw pixels in SDL.
