"Why is the game called 27 MHz?"

Back in the late 80's, hobby remote control cars transmitted on the 27MHz frequency, hence the name. Did you ever own or play with one?

Tools & Process

All music, sound, and art assets were made by me in 72 hours, and Opus 5.5 wrote the code. I made the game using a custom engine built on Phaser.js and Matter.js for physics.

> Audio: Ableton Live + my electric guitar for the menu track, BFXR for basic 8bit gameplay SFX

Changes

- 10-19-26: Jam version
- 10-20-26: Bugfix version. Players reported serious performance issues on laptops. It was due to the heavy blurring of the background art layers, as well as multiple draw calls. I was able to consolidate the draw calls and fix the blur, improving performance a lot. I felt that change was justified. No features nor content was added.

The car selection screen has such a toy catalogue feel to it. Separate radio channels for the cars are a lovely detail, and the big purple Mega Van is an easy favourite from the screenshots.

I left my ratings! If you get a chance, please check out and rate our game too: Robot Workshop.
