- WASD - Move - mouse - look (no sensitivity setting, sorry) - Space - Jump - Hold Left click - pull back crossbow - Release Left click - fire (holding until fully back is more powerful). - Right click - cancel shot if you're currently holding back
The strat seems to be to hide in a few trees. Kind of fun, got actually jump scared one time.
Wanted to do something completely different, but ran out of time, and was determined to submit something.
Was more prepared than usual (which isn't saying much 😅 ), but was using Box3D, and there was a lot of fighting with it... (not necessarily it's fault, I'm also on an old version I think).
Game is made using 'C' and Vulkan. I've never made a game with pure C before, it was weird, but kind of refreshing.
Source:
- Only the VS2026 project in projects is up to date.
- You need VulkanSDK to compile shaders. Vulkan.h is included, so if you exclude the shaders from the build it should run out of the box.
- Linux Users - Based on previous games, _shoouuuld_ run on just Wine, since it's Vulkan, I dont think it needs proton.
Unfortunately the game crashes with an error on Linux using Wine during launch sometimes. I had to launch it three times, then somehow it worked. So that's a bit inconsistent. ^^'
When it works, it is quite fun. I didn't expect enemies to cause these jump scares in the first run. So if you were going for that, well done. Still unsure whether the sounds make it more or less scary. ^^'
@thejackimonster yeah, I wonder if I'm doing something with winapi wine doesn't like. Previous games have been a windows build using SDL, which might be a bit more standard in the way it goes through winapi.
I was half going for the jump scares. I got jumped while playtesting, I think it's because they kind of slide around fast / randomly with the terrain (and make a loud noise when you die :D )
Ah this is a great entry. I got a good fright on my first try. I like the art style and the game title is the best hahaha. Good job, I really enjoyed this.
@acartlidge I was aware that would happen, didn't even think to stop them rotating tbh. Surprised (in a good way) at how many ppl think it's creepy/scary :D :D
