Haunted Score

You found an old game console and are getting ready to have a good time, but wouldn't you know it, that game console was owned by someone who has __come back from the dead__ just to prevent you from beating their highscore. Meh. You're gonna beat their highscore whether they like it or not.
Try to beat the ghost's highscore by clicking the buttons the game console prompts you. The ghost is going to try to reach out and take the console away to prevent you from beating it, so make sure to drag it away from it's grasp and steal it back if it manages to get a hold.

__Controls:__
Q - Pause Menu
Left Mouse Button (Hold) - grab the game console while in GRAB mode.
Left Mouse Button (Click) - press buttons while in POINT mode.
Right Mouse Button (Click) - toggle between point and grab mode.
__Tips:__
When the ghost manages to grab the console, you are able to grab it and pull it out of its grasp. But likewise, it can also take it from you while you are grabbing it.
__Notes from me:__
It's been a few years since I last participated in Ludum Dare. Since I heard it's ending in a couple years I wanted to finally participate again, and I'm excited to be back! This time I had the goal of making something complete, with sound effects, music, etc since I've always been bad at scope. I usually don't end up having time to make or find music for my games so they end up being really quiet, so I'm glad I was able to do it here (even if the music sucks haha that's what the volume control is for). I originally wanted to make the game you play on the console something that exists, like Alien Invaders or Tetris, but I figured that would have made the game harder than it already is, so I just went with something simpler. Also had a lot of other ideas for mechanics but I was trying to minimize the scope, even then it took way longer than I expected to get done what I did haha.

Everything was made by me except for the font, which I got from 1001Fonts. The font is called Home Video.
No AI was used to make this game.

Still, very fun game! I had a lot of fun finding out strategies until I found my optimal one. There are a lot of ways to go about it, like my upgrade farming that I already mentioned before (the idea is that you can ignore pressing the right buttons as long as one button gives you enough points, that way you can focus on the grabbing hands). That was my optimal one at the end, other than that I found the mechanic that if you move the gameboy you can dodge the grabbing hands, but they reversed that on me when they got faster, the hand from the other side of the screen popping up immediately just takes the gameboy and you immediately lose. There's a lot of depth here and I enjoyed that. Art-wise, the creepy hand looks cool, and the effect with the multiple hands on the side of the screen sure got me when it first appeared. Sound design was good as well, the sound when the hand goes away after you grab the gameboy helps with getting the timing right. Very cool game, well done!
The only and really THE ONLY thing I would add was to see your score once you die.
@iluvatar Thanks, I'm really glad you liked it! And yeah I agree, I really should have added the highscore to the gameover screen, and it really wouldn't have taken much more work to do so.
@ao-85 Thanks, glad you enjoyed playing!
@eugenik Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I was worried it might be a bit boring especially in the beginning when the hand doesn't pop out that much, and I think because of that I might have made the difficulty ramp up a bit too quickly / too much.
