THREAT*
*The Secret of the Old Space Station THREAT
Presentation
============
An old threat wakes up in deep space. The CRT memory must be purged.
You have boarded an abandoned orbital platform—an ancient, forgotten outpost controlled by a rogue AI system. Equipped with nothing but your trusty rusty boomerang, you must dodge wall-mounted deadly lasers, align with energy switches, and destroy all 4 core modules of the central CRT threat.
Will you survive zero-gravity and purge the system before it's too late?
The Challenge
=============
- Fast-Paced Action & Boss Phases: Alternate between intense dodging phases, glitching wall switches, and Zero-G attack opportunities.
- Precision Boomerang Mechanics: Throw your boomerang in 8 directions to strike wall switches and exposed core modules.
- Invincible Dash: Master the 8-directional double-tap dash to phase right through lethal laser beams.
- Parodic Retro Vibe: An intense boss fight themed around old hardware, CRT glitches, and pure retro action.
Controls

- PICO-8!

@ludumdaredevil Yeah, I get that! But you know, PICO-8 is a 2-button fantasy console so I had to make some hard choices 😅 Regarding the platforms, a few friends gave me the exact same feedback! I definitely should have coded "one-way" collisions (pass-through from below). Thanks a lot for this honest feedback!
@orpheus Great job finishing it! 🏆 Did you find the balance too easy or too hard? (I spent the very last hours constantly tweaking timers and difficulty, haha 🙈)
@lchaves Thank you for playing! Yeah, that's part of the PICO-8 constraints and the rules of the game 😼
- PICO-8
- Khidr from Rogue Legacy (lol)
- Dynamic gameplay
- Pixel graphics and music
A cool little game, feels nice. Passed on the second try, right as soon as I understood what needed to be done)
@gamescodedogs Thanks! Always trying to squeeze the best retro juice out of PICO-8! 👾
@kitmani Haha, Khidr! Now that you mention it, I can't unsee it! 👁️ I played SO MUCH Rogue Legacy back in the day, my subconscious definitely took over! Glad you enjoyed the loop and beat it on your second try! Good job!
@fancyreckless Thank you for the detailed feedback! I really spent time polishing the telegraphs and visual cues so the chaos would feel fair. Fair point on the theme—I leaned heavily on the "OLD hardware / CRT / old rusty boomerang" interpretation, but I'm glad the retro arcade vibe worked for you!
And yeah, I agree with the previous comments — being able to jump onto platforms from below would be a very welcome addition!
@skigfx Wow, thank you! I'll take that as the ultimate compliment! 😼 (Whether you meant the meta-retro loop of using old hardware/boomerangs on a PICO-8, or if my theme interpretation was just wildly off-the-wall, I love it! 😂)
And 100% noted for the pass-through platforms—if I ever release a post-jam version, one-way collisions will definitely be the first thing I code! Thanks again for stopping by!
