3D Chess

This game is from the old Ludum Dare platform. You can try viewing the original page on Web Archive
(may not load correctly).
theme2.61: 2.61
------Gameplay Notes-------

It's a turn-based strategy game where the sky is the limit, or something like that. So it qualifies as a Real Time Strategy game, because it really takes time to play it. *cough cough*

-Controls-

You basically control everything with your mouse.
-Right Mouse Button: rotate view
-Left Mouse Button: select unit or move unit
-Middle Mouse Button OR Spacebar: move or pan view

You can navigate through the menu and game modes via the Number buttons "1 - 9" and "T" for Tutorial.

The modes 2 - 5 are for two players playing against each other (or only one against himself, if you wish so), and modes 6 - 9 are for one player against an AI.

Music: All the videos available on youtube.
Sounds: Whatever sounds you can make with your mouth.
Graphics: Only those created and rendered by me.
Win-Condition: Whichever you can think of, but I would say, you are already a winner if you can get a little bit of fun out of this.

------Technical Notes------

This project has been created with LWJGL and is hosted on Bitbucket. You are free to look at the code, fork it, make it better, make it worse and learn from it.

The Models have been created with Wings3D, my first 3D modeling experience, and I must say it's really beginner friendly (given you understand something about 3D rendering).

You may recognize that the camera isn't working like your everyday pitch/yaw modifying camera. It's a special camera system based on quaternions which took me a whole day to understand and implement. So look at the code if you are interested.

------Personal Notes------

At first I didn't even want to participate, but then I said heck why not, then I knew again, because I have no holidays and no time. So I had to throw away all plans of an AgeOfEmpires 1 HD Remake and just settled with one simple idea I had since some months, which has partially been inspired by chess and partially by looking at a ceiling for hours.

I hope you have fun.
