MiniLD #56compo
DMS
Shoot'em up, homage to Metal Slug and newer references such as BroForce.
Ctrl : shoot
Shift : shoot grenades
Space : jump
arrows : moves
What's there :
2 players may be ok if you have 2 x-box controllers (sorry it was hacky : player 1 =keyboard or gamepad 1 , player 2 = gamepad 2)... try and tell me :)
Arcade mode inspired by metal slug series and more recent stuff like Broforce.
Survival mode.
Random mode a bit more roguelike.
Test mode : to try some level editing functions, fractal trees stuff, or see how enemies react...Sort of little showroom.
I wanted to link the story with the theme "back to the future", with some nazis coming back from the moon to prove i have very bad taste, but it's not very obvious here, and tried to make as many mechanics as i could.
I was already scratching this before MiniLD, but i made some great progressions and this offered ways to challenge and improve previous work...
I did'nt had time to make a cool boss/end level, so scoring is the way.
What was used :
Game Maker Studio
Gimp
Bfxr
Autotilegen
kNARF

Anyway i added some text to explain at the start of an arcade game. Hope it'll make things clearer ! Cheers !
Most of the background elements seem to use appropriately 'muted' colours. But I think the green foliage background is too bright, it can be very distracting.
