MiniLD #60compo
Artifacts
The theme i picked is exploration from LD16. You will be collecting some artifacts while exploring a cave. Arrow keys to move. M to mute music. This is my first game with Flash/HaxeFlixel/Ogmo so i kept it simple. (Like everybody i had some different plans.)
Check the poll linked below after playing!
Software Used:
- Photoshop CS2
- Ogmo Editor
- FlashDevelop
- HaxeFlixel
- WalkBand
Music by @Vipspecial.
Other stuff by me.
Source is also linked below now.

I like the tight controls, concept is great. The art reminds of those old 90's games. Nice.

The game is really nice, but I felt sometimes the boat movement is jerky, not smooth. A nice little game for LD.

here is some random feedback:
* the graphics did not quite fit the collision. there were some places where i thought i could have gone through, but the small rocks did not let you.
* you tried to make tiles somewhat 'real' looking, but failed, because the tiles are not 'seamless'. it is easy to spot the grid and thus looks strange. another approach that i often find quite easier, is to aim at making the tiles just really obviously blocky / cartoonish / pixelstyle. :)
* if you had a (simple) linear dialog instead of the random pickup messages, you could have produced a linear story. maybe that would have been an easy bonus to playing motivation as it encourages playing through curiosity :) (i used this trick for my taxi sim for a previous game.) but your opinion may differ.
well, congratulations to finishing something :)

The controls are perfect tbh, they're in a form that any body who has played these types of games would be used to.
I like the premise of collecting treasure too.
IMO the only thing that didn't completely match up was the music. I was expecting of something more like Terra's theme from Final Fantasy VI. Obviously not necessarily to that standard, but something more tranquil. That's only because I can imagine playing this game as a way to relax however others may not see it like that so it's up to you.
Overall I like it man, keep it up. ;3.

I experienced this game as an excellent commentary on the banality and emptiness of material acquisition, something quite radical for a videogame.
I'm 99.9% sure you weren't even going for that, but I interpreted it that way nonetheless. =)

Oh, and also your graphics were actually really good. Like, I kept playing at first just to see the graphics.

i always found it ridiculous when a patch of grass or a rock stops you from walking in a game.
but yeah - your opinion may differ :)
for example you could consider that the graphics support the tile based approach, because they make it simpler to identify, where you can move to.

Finding all of the artifacts was enjoyable. The graphics were good, and the music fit in with the game to make a nice mood.
One minor critique is that the music is very quiet. It was so quiet that I completed the game not even being able to hear the music, and I only realized there was music when I reread the post, and then turned up my sound. For the record I normally have my volume on low normally (~10%), and so this might not be a common problem.

Nice game, I really like the controls. Plus, the dialogue that pops up every time you pick up an item were funny. :D

A simple and fun game. A bit more things into the gameplay could have been great. But more important I won. Graet job.

Hah! Neat little game, I liked cruising around and picking things up. I got all 40+3, though it seems like 10 of those must've been diaries of the same little girl. I particularly enjoyed the names of the special artifacts.

Thanks everbody! Especially the ones who found them all.
About comments.
It was my first try with a grid map it probably needed different looking tiles for each type at 3 or something. I noticed that but yeah. Didnt spend time on that.
About music. That happened so fast i was completing the game and my friend wanted to help so he simply opened up a random app and did that music. The drums should have been on background idk why is it like that. My plan was also making the music soothing B).
Bounding boxes cant turn in flixel with builtin stuff. B( Sad.
Adding pickup texts and something like scenerio happened near end of developing so i just dumped some random references. And that girl is the character of my first LD game @lucentbeam. I have plan about making my all games happen in same AU after this. Margus was also a character on my last LD entry.
Anyways thanks again everbody for playing. I felt like it was too boring while submitting but it looks like it has some mysteries to reveal when you are not the guy who made the thing. Keep LD'ing everybody! It's a good thing B).

Neat little game. I like the concept and the execution, but the game is lacking something that keeps people, it would be awesome if you add enemies, obstacles, a reason to find artifacts. Good game though. I really like the art.

Fun game, yet simple. Well made! I included your game in part 3 of my MiniLD #60 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :) https://youtu.be/9kiwB-ynygk
