Ürsoup

Ürsoup is a game about the time in which the existence of life came into being. Before that there was nothing. No one was, is or would have become anything. Until at a certain point all of a sudden everyone was. In Ürsoup you play a microbe at exactly that time. The game is about collecting food and climbing the evolution ladder.

How To Play

- Move by press and holding the left mouse button
- Sprint by press and holding the right mouse button
- Press escape to open the growth menu
- Collect growth points by eating at gysirs or other lifeforms (only if you have evolved the teeths. After that you cant eat at gysirs anymore)

The more sound effects could be added (Like growing). Has cool pixel art in it. Controls were fitting the game.

I really like the concept and the fit with the theme. I like the art too and the mood is quite nice. I only hoped I could have eaten anything else than bubbles: the bacteriae (including me) move way too fast on my computer at least. It's probably a bug, and I could evolve to the max by only eating bubbles, but I wish I could have eaten something else.

Otherwise, I like this good work!

@blint6 In fact, you can eat all other life forms. After you have developed your teeth. And you can also sprint by holding down the right mouse button. Maybe read the controls and please try the game again. I want to know what you think if you "actually" experience it.

Hi @j0ye, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. Here's how I experience the game on my machine:

I tried changing resolution without success. Sorry for not having it work successfully, I would take any tip to try to fix that.

I like the moodiness of this game and it fits the theme perfectly. For me, the white bubbles were a bit eye-straining on the dark background. Overall a pretty fun little game, well done.

@thiago-nascimento @blint6 I don't understand why the game is not working for you two. I have tested it on different machines and it always works as intended. Is there anything unusual about your set up, that cause this bug? The Speed of the frame rate does not affect the game, so that cant be it.

Nice work! Really like the idea of and the atmosphere, took me a bit too long to figure out that I need to ingest those air bubbles to grow, and those damn toothbrush-like enemies are kinda fast, but it only makes it more fun. Needs some more sfx and varying enemy types maybe. But nice work, I'd like to see more of this :)

Great job, very neat game. I would wish for a bit more populated soup and a confirmation query after pressing exit game in the evolution menu. Pressed that one way too many times.

Great game, would have been nice if as you got bigger some of the enemies would spawn at a larger size so that you always had someone to run away from, also I found a small bug where if you get teeth while your still small the red enemies will chase you even though you can eat them.

Nice atmosphere!

I had > 50 growth before realizing Escape was actually upgrades :) So I got all the upgrades at once.

I liked how the sound guided me to the air bubbles :thumbsup:

Funny how the blobs swim for their life with their tiny fins when I chase them haha! :shark:

@inventivum-games It's not a bug, it's a design decision. You can't tell from the player that he has teeth, so the hunters are still swimming towards you. Theoretically you could still lose in a fight against them. Only size matters to them.

I really like this, I think some more sound effects would be nice, but the atmosphere in the game is awesome, the art is really nice too.

Loved it! Graphics and sound design was cool and the gameplay reminded me of the best things about spore. Nicely fits the theme as well. When I pressed "Apex Lifeform" it just changed to "has teeth" and nothing else happened.. is this the end? Wouldn't mind playing a more fleshed out version of this :D

The atmosphere is spot on, it really gives you the feel of nothingness, where you are surrounded by an empty space. The creature is adorable and I love the gameplay idea!

I read the description in advance, so I knew the controls, no problems :) I didn't expect much, but I like this game! Too bad it's so short. I would like to see further stages of development of my little blue thing :) I would add some more sounds, but I like the background track. Also plus for your pixel art! I can feel the mood.

Hey! Not bad! I liked to be the one to pursue the red ones after I got bigger and with teeth. Darwinism right?

About the red ones, actually, make them more clear. In the dark Ursoup, I couldn't see them right at first ...

And yeah, the music, is a good ambiance ^^ I guess !
Lovely design for our chara, tho.
