Deathly Delay

Thanks for sharing your game! It was a cute entry, I like the idea of challenging death at a bunch of different mini-games to survive. The controls were a little wonky at times, but it was fun :slight_smile:

I really like this wario ware style you got goin on! I think it would be nice if there was some fast paced music in the background to go with the minigames, some visual feedback for the first game would be great as well, eg you can have death be programmed to have different phases and in each of those phases he can have a different sprite along with causing some screen shake. Otherwise love the concept, great job!

Interesting and fun. I love donating a pile of cats to the grim reaper to not die. If only...

@frizuo Thanks! Wario ware was a big inspiration! I'm actually not sure which mini game you're talking about since the order is randomized. I really wish I would've had to time to polish, and make better music.

@masterofcheese Woops, I was talkin about the arm wrestling minigame, right now the only feedback you get is the player character getting a seizure so some feedback from the reaper will be great! Don't worry too much about the polish, I think you did great in 48 hours!

A quick into to the controls as the game starts would be a fantastic add. I was confused as hell on the throwing one. Overall great entry though! Thanks!

@darandin I'm glad you enjoyed it! The controls could for sure could use some work, I thought about adding controls for each mini game, but as I watched others play, watching them figuring out the controls was part of the fun.

Great little game for a compo. Funny and entertaining. Fit the theme well but just felt like it is missing something.

All in all a decent entry, well done!

The pixel art is quite good, and idea is... can I say, cute? The arm wrestle made me chuckle, but not sure if I'm doing it correctly, seems death lord did nothing during arm wrestle ;). The game time is sure can be extended but I'm happy that I can beat it under this length. Nice little game!

@yulotomorrow Thank you, I was kind of going for cute! I'm actually not the biggest fan of my art, but I'm glad you thought it was okay! Death doing nothing during the arm wrestling is just me not having enough time to put in some visual feedback, repeatedly clicking is how you beat him...

@tristian-tee Thank you! I agree, it's lacking a bit of polish, I unfortunately was busy during part of the time limit, so not as much time for polish!

Nice entry. The first few rounds i was thinking "it would be better if the game had little controls explanation before each game", but later there were some. So i dont know i was blind or some games were lacking a explanation. Well done tho :)

Great job! the game is very fun! The music was a little too loud for my taste... I don't know if someone else had this problem, but the site asked me to logging with my unity account to play the game.

@glayson Huh that sounds really inconvenient having to log in, I was trying to get the web build working on itch, but It was being a pain. The audio shouldn't be too loud, I'm really not sure why it would be. Thanks for playing it, even with the inconveniences!

i discovered that you need to disable compression for the game to work correctly on itch.io. I bugged me out for a good year before i figured out how to do that...

Thank you all for trying the game! Vague hints for the controls was initially design, I had watched a friend play it, and his trying to figure out the controls was part of the fun. Maybe it was bad design though idk haha

Neat game! I couldn't play the arm wrestling one due to injuries from clicking too much in other games, but the others were nice. I love that death loves cats =). Graphics are great, just wish the countdown clock matches the pixel aesthetic of the rest of the screen.

Out of curiosity, what option did you set so that the game takes the whole window when a user clicks to play it on itch.io? That seems nice, even if yours doesn't actually stretch to fill the window...

@jimbly Thanks for playing, sorry to hear about your injury! I was short on time and wasn't able to add a pixel font, unfortunately.

As for having the game go full screen, in Embed options I just switched it to "Click to launch in fullscreen"

At first the lack of explanations confused me and I died. Then I realized the wario-ware-esque tone and gameplay and enjoyed the ride. Graphics are very cute, and the audio matched it pretty well. I definitely think I'd have liked the games to repeat but get faster and harder, leading to my ultimate demise at some point, and that'd probably be the only change/critique I have. Overall a very solid package for just 2 days solo!

@cyzaine I'm glad you realized what I was going for, and were able to enjoy it! The idea popped into my head to make them get harder, but it was too late in development, and I didn't want to over scope. I'm excited to see how I improved next year!

Great little collection of minigames. The cat-throwing needs a little work (or I just need to suck at throwing it less), but the android version was still a lot of fun!

@uraffululz Thanks for playing! Unfortunately, the cat mini-game is broken on mobile :(. I plan on fixing it once the rating period is over, I mainly left it up for ease of having family and friends try the game.
