Here is our game: "Harvest Shroom" It's a game about Bill the forager and his quest to harvest golden mushrooms. Bill is a mushroom addict and can't help munching down all the mushrooms he sees. Help Bill harvest his golden mushrooms without dying due to the various toxins.
This was our first game jam and first original game. We've had a lot of fun over the last 2 days making this game and we hope you'll enjoy.
We used godot engine to create our game.
Controls: Arrow keys to move. Space bar to continue.

It would appear that godot projects have trouble running on chromium based browsers. If you find yourself with the following error:
Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag. Please choose the alt web link as for some reason the game won't work on chrome on this site. It will work on itch though.
To anyone running the game on chrome/edge or any other chromium based browser. The game will currently not work there :frowning2: It works on firefox if you try there instead. Will be working on a fix.
I've now re-added the windows and macos binaries with all the required files and they should now work. Otherwise unfortunately the embedded game will only work on firefox. There seems to be very little information about it and I don't have any more time to investigate a fix.

Fun game with cute graphics and good audio. Very nice title screen, especially for a LD game!
I like the main mechanic of eating a mushroom to start the timer/level, and then having to rush to figure out which mushroom would add to the timer and which would just add a secondary timer. Seems like a cool puzzle idea. The timers are a little bit unforgiving though lol.
love the art! the game is about trying in my view, to find with mushroom can extend current poison. so maybe a mushroom index that record ever mushroom you've eaten can be good? again, I have to say the dying animation is sooooooo good
Liked the art and animations. I feel like the gameplay ("try different paths/combinations") doesn't work as well with the large amount of times to respawn/retry
Love the art style of the game! My only suggestion is to take a look at the difficulty and have a better ramp up so early on the timer is a bit more forgiving but it gets harder as you play!
im surprised how far our hero can go while eating random fungi across the path. its a fun challenge trying to work out which mushrooms to go for in order to make it to the end
@tero-pulkkinen This seems to be an issue on chrome. If you try the game on firefox then this doesn't happen. Unfortunately I coudln't work out how to fix this.
Really cool idea for a puzzle game! Memorizing the correct mushroom combinations as you go through each level is fun, and it quickly becomes tricky. The art and animation is so good. Music, too! You guys should be proud of all you accomplished in one weekend!
The art of this game is awesome, I love the general design of it and the music is fantastic. All of the animations fit well with the gameplay and are well done. The general idea of the gameplay is compelling, but for me it fell down a bit with the feedback that it gives the player. I found it hard to tell what was going on with the various bars, it seemed like sometimes picking up mushrooms started a bar that meant I could walk further and sometimes they added a second bar that did not seem to do anything, I still die when the first ran out. One of the things that frustrated me about that system was that when I picked up the mushrooms in the other order the same happened in reverse, when the first one I picked up ran out I died. Some form of explanation of how the mushrooms interact would have gone a long for me, playing ended up feeling less like a puzzle and more like trial and error. Overall this felt like a beautiful and well-thought out puzzle game that just wasn't able to communicate its mechanic to me. Great job with your first game jam!
Cool graphics and music. The gameplay didn't feel quite intuitive to me. I wasn't really able to figure it out what was the difference between the different mushrooms and which to pick up in order to survive. Anyways I think it is a good idea and it plays well so well done.
It took me some time to figure out what's exactly happening here, besides the fact that Bill is a bad scavenger.
A Tutorial about the shrooms intetractions would do wonders to this game. Btw, I loved the animal critters at the woods, it fells much more alive! Congrats!
Great entry! I too, had no idea how to decide which shrooms to eat so i just randomly picked them until i passed the level. I eventually had to stop playing because it was taking too long to brute force the level with all of the red mushrooms xD. A tutorial would've been great but i can see how leaving it up to us is a good call too!
Cool game! Maybe mushroom picking can be more player friendly. Sometimes I came to a mushroom, but even when I was near it, I ran out of steps and I didn't pick up it. But overall very nice game!
Honestly - amazing first entry to the jam. Way better then we did the first time around.
Overall the gameplay was good and the controls were good and tight. I struggled with not moving fast enough or bumping against corners it felt i should have not hit. Also it seemed like the steps countdown was just slightly too fast as it did the pickup animation but then i'd immediately die after words.
Also a tutorial explaining the mushroom interactions - i died alot in the beginning.
Well done! Especially for first time! I got stuck on one of the level I couldn't reach second mushroom no matter what I was doing. Besides that, cool puzzle game. Art style is nice, music is good and in-game mechanics are cool!
Great entry! It could be a little difficult to figure out what the different mushroom effects/bars meant but it lends to replaying and trying new combinations. Love the art style and the music!
