PyOpenGL and py2exe?
I think I'll try a PyOpenGL entry this time, if the theme permits (possibly using OpenGLContext, though I've not used it before). Given that my 2d drawing skillz suck, maybe I can make something prettier in 3d. Probably not, but it might be worth a try ;)
Fortunately, it looks like py2exe and PyOpenGL will work.
philhassey's map / tile editor looks cool though - maybe it could help my 2d'ness...

erik: You are going to want to test Py2exe with PyOpenGL before the programming starts. I have made it work, but it took some messing with to make it happen.
Specifically, the directions that you link to tell you to copy your OpenGL package into your distribution directory, this didn't quite work for me. I had to unzip the distribution bundle (distribution.zip?), and put it's contents into a folder of the same name (with the zip extension), and copy opengl into that folder. You will save yourself a lot of last minute headaches if you get your build environment working before the weekend.
Richard: I think I'll just stick with PyGame in the end. I know it works, and I can probably come up with something workable with it.
